Resolution in Support of National Campaign to Stop FTAA
WHEREAS, the national AFL-CIO has launched a mass national
campaign to stop the FTAA with a drive to gather 3 million signatures on a
postcard ballot to be submitted to the Western Hemisphere trade ministers
gathering in Miami on November 20-21; and
WHEREAS, this ballot petition campaign is being carried out in
common with the trade union movement and anti-globalization movement
across the Americas; and
WHEREAS, this ballot petition campaign is also addressed to all
elected officials in the U.S.;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the San Francisco Labor Council
actively support the campaign by gathering signatures of our union members
on this postcard petition and call on all elected officials in our city
and county to publicly oppose the FTAA.
